Miscellaneous Options

These are miscellaneous options. Most are self-explanatory.

Show ops panel regardless of status - this option will show the Ops control panel even if you don't have ops. Any commands that may be available for non-ops will be visible.

Notify me when a new version of Vortec is available - this will check your version and if a newer version is available, a window will open with a description of the changes and options to visit the Vortec website or download the latest version directly.

Input height adjust - this adjusts the height of the input box where you would normally type commands and messages. This may be useful if using a large font. You can increase the size of the input to adjust.

Show balloon hints for monitored channels - See Channel Monitor

File Associations

.chat and .chat files can be associated with Vortec IRC to automate the connection process. When this option is checked, Vortec will associate these files so that when you double-click a .chat or .cha file in Windows Explorer, Vortec will launch and connect to the server and channel specified.

The .chat and .cha files are normal text files which can be created and edited in any text editor such as Notepad. The file must be formatted as follows:

TITLE NewNet

SERVER irc.newnet.net

PORT 7000

CHANNEL vortecirc

TITLE - This is optional; specifies caption of Vortec's main window

SERVER - Specifies the server to which to connect

PORT - Specifies port

CHANNEL - Specifies channel to join. Must not use the # symbol, only the name

Vortec will automatically connect to the specified server, and once connected, will join the specified channel.

Default ban mode

This sets the default ban mode. If no ban mode is specified when using the /BAN command, this mode will be used.
