General Settings

User Information

This section allows you to edit the default user information such as the default nickname. You may also choose to save your last used nickname. When enabled, you can use the /NICK command to change your nick while connected to a server, and the new nick becomes the default. The default QUIT message is also specified here.

Ident Server

Many IRC networks require you to run an IDENT server. The ident server identifies you to the network as a simple security measure. If you have trouble connecting to a network, or you get a notice saying "You must install identd to connect to this network", set the following options.

Enable Identd

Turns on your ident server

Show Ident Requests

Displays a notice in your server window when someone requests an ident response

Enable only while connecting

Enables the ident server only while the connection is in progress. It is then disabled for security reasons and also for using more than one IRC client on the same network at the same time.
