Connection Settings

This page allows you to set various connection settings like IP address lookup method and flood control.
IP Lookup Method
If you are behind a firewall or router you may have trouble sending or receiving DCC file transfers. To avoid this, you will need to specify an external IP address. You can have the server look up your address, or you can specify your own IP address. If you are not behind a firewall or router, leave this setting at default.
Flood Control
Outgoing flood control can help prevent you from being disconnected from the server for flooding. This happens usually if you are sending commands to the server too fast, or sending text too fast to the channel. You may also get disconnected when playing multi-line popups in the channel.
To enable outgoing flood protection, check the checkbox, and optionally enter a value for the delay time. The delay time is the time (in milliseconds) in which the flood throttling will activate when it detects possible outgoing floods.
CTCP Flood Control
To avoid being flooded by CTCP requests, you can enable CTCP flood control, and optionally change the various settings to suit your needs.
Maximum Connect Attempts
This setting will cause Vortec to keep retrying after a failed connection. For example, setting this value to "3" will have Vortec try three times before giving up.
